Pitcher Matt Swarmer, an Ex-Cub, Rejoins Lancaster Stormers for 2025 Season


The Lancaster Stormers re-signed right-handed pitcher Matt Swarmer, a former Chicago Cub, for the upcoming 2025 Atlantic Season, today manager Ross Peeples announced via X, formerly known as Twitter.

Swarmer, 31, posted a 5-4 record with a 3.80 ERA in 87.2 innings of work in 16 games last season with Lancaster. He also pitched for the Algodoneros de Union Laguna of the Mexican League in 2024.

This year will be the third season with the Stormers for Swarmer, who had gone 9-5 during his time in Lancaster in his two years with the club.

For his MLB service time, Swarmer recorded a 2-3 mark in 11 games with the Cubs in 2022.

Chicago picked Swarmer in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (Kutztown, Pa.).
