The Long Island Ducks have signed left-handed pitcher Juan Hillman for the upcoming 2025 Atlantic League season after acquiring him in a trade with the Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association for a player to be named later, today the team announced via social media.
“We are happy to have Juan join our roster,” Ducks manager Lew Ford said on LIDucks.com. “He has reached Triple-A with two different Major League organizations and is eager to help our ballclub.”
Hillman, 27, pitched in the Colorado Rockies organization after appearing with the Railroaders in two games and permitting three runs, one earned, in 10.2 innings in 2024.
Hillman has made three different All-Star teams: 2021 with Double-A Akron, a Carolina League Mid-Season All-Star in 2019 with High-A Lynchburg, and a New York-Penn League All-Star in 2016 with Low-A Mahoning Valley in his eight-year minor league career.
The Cleveland Indians chose Hillman in the second round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft out of Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida.
Long Island kicks off the season on Friday, April 25, at 6:35 p.m., as it faces off against the Lancaster Stormers at home.
