Wagner High School (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Team Lightning Melious 6-foot-1 forward Casey McKinney has earned her first offer from Division II Lander University Women’s basketball program, today Lightning head coach Dan Melious wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

McKinney averaged 15.5 points, 9.77 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 13 contests during the 2024-25 Public School Athletic League (PSAL) regular season, while helping the Falcons to a 9-5 league record.

In the playoffs, McKinney, a rising senior, scored 17 points, grabbed 13 boards, and dished out four helpers in Wagner’s 66-44 loss to Tottenville in the second round.

The rough-and-tumble McKinney is currently playing for the talent-loaded Team Lightning Melious AAU squad, gaining valuable experience and exposure, as she pursues and prepares for the next level of academics and hoops.

The Bearcats posted a 14-13 overall mark and went 8-10 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) action this past year.
