After months of speculation, Southwest Mississippi Community College’s (SMCC/JUCO) Tylik Weeks, a New Yorker, has verbally committed to Division I Southern Mississippi University Men’s basketball program, per his X account.
Weeks picked Southern Miss. over Missouri State, Fairfield, Manhattan and Bowling Green, according to recruiting reporter Jake Lieberman.
Additionally, the 6-foot-7, 235-pound class of 2025 Weeks held offers from Hofstra, New Mexico State, Missouri State, Fairfield, Green Bay, Gardner-Webb, Toledo, Cal State Bakersfield, Texas State, Queens (NC), Bowling Green, Florida A&M, among other programs, according to NYNJSportsWorld.com.
He averaged 21.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game as a sophomore at SMCC this past season.
Before that, Weeks averaged 17.2 points and 8.2 boards–both second on his squad–to go along with 2.1 helpers and 1.3 blocks per contest as a freshman at SMCC.
Weeks, who is from Queens, N.Y., attended Brooklyn Theater Arts High School at South Shore in Brooklyn, where he averaged 7.7 points and 7.25 rebounds in 12 regular season PSAL games in the 2021-22 season. In the playoffs, he added 19 points in seven tilts.
The Golden Eagles posted a 11-22 record and went 5-13 in Sunbelt Conference (SBC) action in the 2024-25 campaign.
