Two Staten Island Basketball Standouts, McKinney and Ross, Receive DII Offers from Pace


A pair of Team Lightning Melious and Public School League (PSAL) players — Casey McKinney (Wagner/Staten Island) and Amaya Ross (New Dorp/Staten Island) — have received Division II offers from Pace University Women’s basketball program, today their AAU coach Dan Melious wrote on X.

Additionally, McKinney, a rising 5-foot-10 senior forward, holds an offer from DII Lander University, while Ross, a 6-foot-1 senior forward, sports offers from Suny Purchase (D-III), Fort Lauderdale (Division I South Region) and Rend Lake (JUCO).

McKinney averaged 15.5 points, 9.77 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 13 contests during the 2024-25 Public School Athletic League (PSAL) regular season, while helping the Falcons to a 9-5 league record.

In the playoffs, McKinney scored 17 points, grabbed 13 boards, and dished out four helpers in Wagner’s 66-44 defeat to Tottenville in the second round.

As for Ross, she averaged 12.67 points, 12.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 12 regular season PSAL contests. Then, in the playoffs, she averaged 12.3 points, 14.3 and 2.3 boards per game in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Central Cougars posted a 13-1 mark and made it to lost to Tottenville, 61-56, in the semifinals.

More impressively, however, Ross holds an impressive 3.8 GPA.
