Two female New Jersey natives played an important role in Team USA Women’s basketball team’s 65-53 semifinal win over Team Canada today in the International Basketball Federation Association (FIBA) Women’s AmeriCup 2025 in Santiago, Chile.
Hannah Hidalgo, a Summit, N.J. native who plays at Notre Dame and played at Paul VI High School, led the red, white and blue charge with 19 points, four assists and four steals while be a menacing force on defense. Mikayla Blakes, a Somerset, N.J., native who suits up for Vanderbilt and played at Rutgers Prep, contributed 11 points and grabbed four boards in the victory.
Additionally, Madison Booker (Texas/Germantown High School) scored 12 points and collected four rebounds, while Kennedy Smith (USC/Etiwanda High School) had seven points, three thefts and three blocks.
Team USA will face either Brazil or Argentina on Sunday.
