Emily Salafia Stars in Team Lightning’s UA Rise Under Armour Hoops Victory

Team Lightning Melious picked up another victory with Staten Island’s own Emily Salafia (St. Joseph by-the-Sea/Staten Island, N.Y.) leading the charge with 20 points, six assists, four steals, and intense defensive ball pressure in a UA Rise Under Armour Final win during the July Live Period today in Lancaster, Pa.

The key to the game, according to former college coach Jeremy Basham, was the ability of the Lightning to utilize a smothering 1-3-1 defensive trap. That type of defense held the opposition’s top scorer, who had been averaging 29 points per game, to just eight.

Per several AAU basketball sources, Dan Melious has been putting on a coaching clinic this AAU period, allowing his girls to work out things on their own before stepping in when needed.
