John Jay High School’s (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) Nathaniel Johnson, a class of 2026 three-sport athletic standout, has signed with Purdue University for track & field, yesterday his high school football program announced via X.

Johnson was an outdoor pentathlon New York State champion, capturing the title for the second consecutive time this past summer. He holds currently the freshman, sophomore, and junior state records for the five-discipline event, per his X post.
He finished third overall with 6821 points in his first decathlon at the New Balance National Championships at the University of Pennsylvania in June.
He is also an accomplished high jumper and 200- and 400-meter racer, among other events.
Additionally, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver/cornerback, who owns a 38-inch vertical leap and 4.41 40-yard dash time, plays basketball as a small/power forward for the John Jay High School Patriots.
The track and field pentathlon consists of five facets: the 100-meter sprint, long jump, shot putt (or discus throw), javelin throw, and 1500-meter race.
