On Saturday, March 28th, 11’00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., two former New York Yankees — pitcher John Candelaria and utility player Otto Velez, as well ex-MLB catcher Bentio Santiago — will be appearing at the New Jersey Memorabilia and Cards Expo at the Secaucus Recreation Center (1200 Koelle Blvd. Secaucus, New Jersey), brought to you by Real Signings.
Plus, former New York Mets catcher Duffy Dyer will be on hand.
Note: there is a $5.00 admission fee for the event.
The cost for an autograph for Candelaria is $25.00 for cards, balls and flats — $30.00, everything else is $39.00, while an inscription is $10.00. He will be appearing from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Brooklyn-born Candelaria, who also pitched for the New York Mets, posted a 177-122 record with a 3.33 ERA and 1,673 strikeouts in 600 games across an 18-year MLB career with both New York teams, Pittsburgh Pirates, California Angels, Montreal Expos, Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Also, he won a World Series ring with the Pirates in 1979.
A Santiago, a five-time All-Star and a four-time Silver Slugger award winner, autograph goes for $25.00 for cards, balls and flats — $35.00, everything else is $39.00, while an inscription is an added $10.00.
He will be appearing from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Santiago hit .268 with 217 home runs, 920 RBI, and 91 stolen bases in a 20-year MLB career with nine different teams: the San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Kansas City Royals, and Pirates.
A Velez autograph goes for $22.00 for cards and flats, everything else is $35.00, with an added inscription is for $5.00. He will be appearing from 11:00 p.m. tp 1:00 p.m.
Velez played 11 seasons in MLB, batting .251 with 78 longballs, .272 RBI, and 244 runs scored with the Yankees, Toronto, and Clevland Indians.
Dyer, a defensive-minded backstop, played 14 seasons in MLB with the Mets, Pirates, Expos, and Detroit Tigers. He hit 30 homers and 173 RBI and won a world Series with the Mets in 1969.
A Dyer card is $25.00, balls and flats up to 11X14 are $35.00, large items and anything else is $40.00, with an inscription for an added $10.00. He will be appearing from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
