Iona Prep’s Mamadee Sangaray, A Rising Football Star, Earns Wake Forest Offer

Defensive back/linebacker Mamadee Sangaray of Iona Prep High School (N.Y.) has picked up an offer from Wake Forest University Football program, today he announced via X.

The Demon Deacons’ offer comes on the heels of ones from Monmouth and Pittsburgh, according to his X account.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound junior, who had helped Iona Prep capture back-to-back Catholic High School Football League (CHSFL) championships, also holds offers from Buffalo, Bowling Green State, UConn, Temple, Boston College, Syracuse, among other programs, per his X account.

Additionally, Sangaray earned the 2025 CHSFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

An incredible athlete who can dunk a basketball, Sanaray shines on defense as a player who can blow up the run, is a ball hawk in the secondary, and delivers hard hits and wraps up opposing offensive ball carries. He also has solid hands on offense and runs kickoffs back with his elusive speed.

Wake Forest posted a 9-4 overall record and went 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) action this past season.
