Long Island Native Alex Ungar Set to Join Washington Wild Things for 2026 Season


Alex Ungar, an outfielder, has signed with the Washington Wild Things for the upcoming 2026 Frontier League season, yesterday the team wrote on Facebook.

Ungar–a Ronkonkoma, New York, native–will begin his first professional baseball season after suited up for the West Virginia Black Bears of the MLB Draft League this past summer.

With the Black Bears, Ungar hit four home runs and drove in 21 runs while slashing 312/.412/.522 in 37 games and 138 at-bats, as he helped Virgina capture the league’s championship in 2025. He also stole 24 bases out of 27 attempts.

Ungar finished up his college career at Sacred Heart after playing two seasons there. During his time, he earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Second Team All-Region accolade as well as All-MAAC Second Team in 2025 after slashing .359/.443/.708 (1.151 OPS) in 48 contests. 

Before Sacred Heart, he attended Brookdale Community College, where he hit .389/.529/.586 with four homers, 47 RBI, and 61 runs scored. He was named to the All-GSAC Second Team and All-Region XIX Third Team that season (DIII). He also spent his freshman year at the University of Albany.
