Cole Fowler Joins New York Mets’ Minors After Solid Season with the Washington Wild Things

The New York Mets have purchased the contract infielder Cole Fowler from the Washington Wild Things, the Frontier League recently announced.

The Mantua, N.J., native slugged four home runs and 20 RBI with a triple and two doubles along with a slash line of .341/.409/.537 in 94 plate appearances in a 25-game stint with the Wild Things last season.

Before turning professional, Fowler laced an impressive 438 with 19 longballs, 15 doubles, and three triples, while driving in 64 runs and scoring 57 times in his All-American senior campaign of college at Division II Lynn University in Baco Raton, Florida, in 2025.

Now, Fowler said he is achieving an aspiration of his ever since his first laced his spikes, making the effort all worthwhile.

“Signing with the Mets means the world to me,” Fowler said on Lynnfightingknights.com. “Becoming a professional baseball player has been a dream of mine ever since I first started playing the game. I’ve worked extremely hard to reach this point, and it’s an incredible feeling knowing that all the work and sacrifices have paid off.”

Before that, he suited up for Rowan University, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) school, in 2023, where Fowler posted impressive numbers, slashing 416/.448/.719 (1.167 OPS) with 24 doubles, a triple and 10 home runs to go with 66 RBI.

Additionally, Rowan won the NJCAA title that year and Fowler made First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-World Series teams. He spent 2022 at Division II Goldey-Beacom, where he appeared in 30 contest and drove in seven runs.
