
Towson, Md. — The Landmark Conference has named Erin Frederick, a Drew University (Madison, N.J.) center and Staten Island native, as its Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for games played from Dec. 23-Jan. 5.
Frederick, who played high school basketball at Notre Dame Academy in Staten Island, averaged 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest over a 3-1 stretch for the Rangers. Plus, she was named MVP of the Lehman College Coaches vs. Cancer Classic after posting a pair of double-doubles while leading Drew to the title.
The six-foot hoopster began the tournament with 24 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-59 victory over Clark. Then, Frederick registered 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals in a 77-55 win over St. Joseph’s-Long Island in the championship game. Additionally, Frederick’s impressive performances earned her a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.
Frederick also notched 12 points and six rebounds in a 75-69 loss to St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn and 14 points in an 80-59 victory over FDU-Florham.
Furthermore, she shot an exceptional 52.6% from the floor over the four-game period.
For the season, Frederick leads the Rangers in field-goal percentage (53.7%), is tied for the club lead in scoring (14.5 ppg), and is tied for second on the squad in rebounding (6.1 rpg).
Among the Landmark Conference leaders, she ranks third in field-goal percentage and is tied for eighth in scoring.
