Irish Native, Gill St. Bernard’s Gandy Malou-Mamel Commits to UConn Hoops

Last August, Gandy Malou-Mamel left Ireland to attend school at Gill St. Bernard’s High School in Gladstone, New Jersey, according to her Twitter account.

Well, it has paid off in big time dividends, as the class of 2025 Malou-Mamel, who also plays for the Jersey Gemz 16U AAU squad, has verbally committed to Division I UConn Women’s basketball program, today she Tweeted.

Gandy Malou-Mamel commits to head coach Gino Auriemma and UConn Women’s Basketball.

As anyone who follows the girls’ high school basketball game would figure, someone the size of Malou-Mamel, a 6-foot-5 center who also suits up for the 17U Irish National Team, has the propensity to create mismatches and havoc in the paint. She scored 202 points, grabbed team-bests in rebounds (188) and blocked shots (62) in 27 games as a sophomore this past season.

The Huskies put up a 31-6 overall mark and went 18-2 in Big East Conference play in the 2022-23 campaign.
