The Eastern League has named Binghamton Rumble Ponies’, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, Tyler Stuart as its Pitcher of the Week for August 21-27.
Stuart, who is ranked 17th of the Mets’ prospect watch list, tossed six scoreless innings with striking out six and not permitting one walk, while surrendering just two hits. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound hurler, in dominant fashion, retired the final 12 batters that he faced in order and only allowed two baserunners throughout his entire start.
Stuart, a sixth-round selection in the 2022 MLB Draft out of Southern Miss., earned his third Double-A win and seventh overall victory of the year. The 23-year-old righty has posted a 7-2 record and a 2.20 ERA with 112 strikeouts/33 walk ratio between two stops, Brooklyn (High-A) and Binghamton, in 110.2 innings of work in 21 game starts so far this season.
