Hofstra Women’s Hoops Survives NJIT in Close Battle


In a hard-fought affair, Hofstra Women’s basketball used three players in double digit scoring to upend New Jersey institute of Technology (NJIT), 67-65, Saturday at home.

Senior guard Sorelle Ineza led the Pride’s (3-2) offensive attack with 19 points, while senior forward Brooke Anya finished with 14 points and added eight rebounds and made a career-high four blocks.  Freshman center Emma Von Essen dropped in 13 points, grabbed four boards and dished out three assists in the victory.

Junior forward Trinity Williams poured in 18 points, pulled down eight rebounds and made four blocks, while sophomore guard Alejandra Zuniga contributed 14 points and three boards. Senior guard Lyzi Litwinko added nine points, four rebounds and two helpers for the Highlanders (4-3).

Hofstra travels to Upstate New York to face Army West Point Tuesday, November 30th. The Pride returns to the Mack on December 3rd with a 2 p.m. game against Lehigh.
