Mark Minicozzi Dubbed New SI FerryHawks Manager

The Staten Island FerryHawks of the independent Atlantic League have named Mark Minicozzi has their new manager for the 2024 season, the team recently announced on X.

Minicozzi, who played 12 years of professional baseball both in the minors and abroad, is chomping at the bit to lead the “Hawks” in 2024.

“I am excited for the opportunity to join the Staten Island FerryHawks organization and lead Hawk City for the 2024 season,” Minicozzi said on AtlanticLeague.com. “Our goal is to build a championship caliber team that is devoted to our city on and off the field. I know and feel the passion of Staten Island and the New York sports community and will work tirelessly to make our community proud of the FerryHawks for 2024 and into the future.”

Minicozzi, who replaces Homer Bush at the helm, is no stranger to the Atlantic League. He spent 2023 managing the Spire City Hounds after guiding the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes in 2022.

Minicozzi enjoyed his most successful season in 2021 for the Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League, leading the team to a playoff berth by capturing the second-half Atlantic League South Division Title.

FerryHawk President and Co-Owner Eric Shuffler is happy to bring a board a manager with a solid body of work.

“Mark’s teams score runs and play exciting, high-octane baseball,” Shuffler said. “He knows the Atlantic League and independent baseball very well and has a proven track record to recruit and develop talented players. We are excited to introduce him to our fans and engage him with the Staten Island community.”
