Chance Encounter: Sisco Back with Long Island Ducks

Today, the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) re-signed ex-MLB veteran catcher Chance Sisco, who has played for the New York Mets, for the upcoming season.

A lethal bat with the Ducks in 2023, Long Island manager Lew Ford said that Sisco also handled their pitching staff well, two factors that has him pumped for the backstop’s return.

“Chance was one of our most dangerous hitters last season and did a great job working with our pitching staff,” Ducks manager Lew Ford said on LIDucks.com. “We are excited to have him back on Long Island this year.”

After starting the year in Mexico, Sisco played for Long Island, where he posted excellent numbers. He clubbed .305 while slashing .468/.716/ 1.184 along with 11 home runs, 33 RBI and 24 runs in 31 games with the Ducks in the 2023 campaign.

The 29-year-old has suited up in parts of five seasons in the Major Leagues with the Baltimore Orioles (2017-21) and New York Mets (2021). In 196 games, the Corona, California, native has launched a total of 16 longballs, drove in 54 runs, scored 61 runs, had102 hits, 24 doubles, 62 walks and registered a .317 on-base percentage.
