New York Mets first round pick outfielder Carson Benge today played in his first Bridge League game with the Florida Complex League (FCL) Mets’ rookie league affiliate.
He showed flashed of what he may become as a professional, smashing a single and double, both with exit velocities of 99 and 102 miles per hour, against the FCL Cardinals, per FCL Mets’ X.
Benge, the 19th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Amateur Draft, played baseball at Oklahoma State University (OSU). The 21-year-old former two-way player batted .335 with 18 home runs, 64 RBI, 49 walks and 10 stole bases in 248 at bats in 61 games this past season with the Cowboys.
