Pitcher Blake Purnell has signed with the Sussex County Miners for the 2026 Frontier League campaign, today the team announced via X.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The 6-foot-3, 23-year-old right-hander from Boynton Beach, Florida, pitched for the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association last season, posting a 4.73 ERA, striking out 45 and posting a 1.46 WHIP across 51.1 innings of work.
A product of the University of Florida, Purnell recorded a 5-3 record with four saves, striking out 78 batters in 91.1 frames over three seasons with the Gators.
Additionally, he was a 2022 freshman All-American and made the Southeast Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll for three straight years (2022, 2023, and 2024).
The Miners host their home opener at Skylands Stadium on Friday, May 8, 2026, against the Down East Bird Dawgs.
