It was a big recruiting day for New Dorp High School (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Team Lightning Melious’ 6-foot-1 forward Amaya Ross.
The senior has picked up three women’s college basketball offers: Suny Purchase (D-III), Fort Lauderdale (Division I South Region) and Rend Lake (JUCO), today her AAU coach wrote on X after a productive performance over the weekend at the UA Rise’s The Clash in Ohio.
Ross averaged 12.67 points, 12.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 12 regular season Public School Athletic League (PSAL) contests. Then, in the playoffs, she averaged 12.3 points, 14.3 and 2.3 boards per game this past season.
Most impressively, however, Ross holds a 3.8 GPA.
Rend Lake posted a 12-19 record and went 4-8 in Great Rivers Athletic Conference action in the 2024-25 campaign.
