Double-AA Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ right-handed pitcher R.J. Gordon fired seven innings of scoreless ball in a 4-1 win against the Portland Seadogs Wednesday, as the New York Mets’ 25th ranked prospect on MLB.com earned the organization’s Minor League Pitcher of the Week, today sources announced on social media.
Gordon allowed just two hits while striking out seven batters in the victory, which improved his overall record to 9-2 with 3.15 ERA in 22 games, 17 of which were starts, between two stops at Binghamton and High-A Brooklyn Cyclones so far season.
The Mets selected Gordon in the 13th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Oregon.
The Rumble Ponies are 76-38 thus far this year, sitting atop of the Eastern League’s Northeast Division.
