Junior guard Mercedes Perez led the charge with 24 points, five rebounds, and two steals, while senior Kristen Donovan contributed 18 points and six thefts in the victory.
The Bears used a combination of offensive octane, draining five three pointers and tenacious defensive pressure to force 13 Cardinal (0-2) turnovers to build a 30-14 advantage in the first period.
St. Joe’s continued to pour on the intensity on both ends of the floor in the second quarter, outscoring York, 19–8, to take a commanding 49–22 lead at the break.
York managed to stage a shot-lived comeback, but Perez nailed a three and the 6-foot-4 freshman center Tyrah Mack bullied her way inside for the rebound and put back to dash any hopes York had in the third period.
The final quarter was academic for the Bears, as they did not let up their stellar effort one bit, winning going away.
Sophomore Nikki Grech enjoyed a solid game with seven points and 10 rebounds, while Mack scored eight points and grabbed eight boards off the bench.
The Bears return to The Hill Center on Friday to open the inaugural Defend the Den Invitational against Pratt Institute at 4 p.m.
