Behind 20 points from junior Grace Anderson and 17 points from junior Brianna Ardolic, Tottenville High School (Staten Island, N.Y.) Girl’s basketball team tipped off their Public School Athletic League (PSAL) season with an 81-5 lopsided victory over host Port Richmond Wednesday night.
The Pirates’ defense was so stifling that they shutout the Red Raiders’ offense in the first and third quarters of their tilt.
Anderson added five assists, and Ardolic, who also suits up for Team Lightning Melious AAU, had four helpers and three boards in the 76-point Tottenville (1-0) win.
Plus, juniors Juliana Ortiz contributed 11 points and three assists, while Emily Salafia, another Team Lightning player, had nine points.
Last but not least, junior Maria Jose Bello Osorio enjoyed a fantastic game, scoring eight points and grabbing a game-best 13 rebounds.
The Pirates travel to Ozone Park, Queens Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to face Forest Hills at High School for Construction Trades, Engineering & Archit (94-02 104 Street).
