Sioux Falls Canaries Ink Ex-University of Buffalo Baseball’s Chris Kwitzer for 2026

The Sioux Falls Canaries have signed former University of Buffalo infielder Chris Kwitzer for the 2026 American Association campaign, today the team announced via X.

The 31-year-old Buffalo, N,Y., native batted .287 with eight longballs and 80 RBI in four years at Buffalo University baseball.

Canaries’ manager Mike Meyer said he is thrilled to bring Kwitzer into the fold, as he is a solid two-way standout for Sioux Falls this upcoming campaign,

“Chris is a player we’re excited to bring into our clubhouse,” Canaries manager Mike Meyer said in a press release. “He’s a competitor who plays the game the right way. He brings toughness, experience, and a strong presence on both sides of the ball. We believe he’ll fit in really well with our group.”

Kwitzer spilt 2025 with Team Spain in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) Qualifiers, the Hagerstown Flying Box Cars of the Atlantic League, and the Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association, hitting a total of four home runs, 40 RBI, and 18 doubles in 369 at-bats in 102 games.

Defensively, he posted an impressive .984 fielding percentage at third base last season.

Chris Kwitzer enjoyed a career year in 2022, slugging 20 home runs, driving in 96 runs, and lacing 24 doubles with the New York Boulders of the Frontier League.
