Former Staten Island FerryHawk Heads Down Under to Play for Melbourne Aces


Former Staten Island FerryHawks utility player Calvin Estrada is heading to the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League (ABL), yesterday the team announced on X.

The Aces have added a potent bat and sure-handed fielder ahead of February’s noteworthy international matchups against the Korean Baseball Organization’s (KBO) Hanwha SkyBattle and KT Wiz Diamond Duel.

The Los Angeles native most recently competed in the Puerto Rican Winter League, where he appeared in 40 contests for the Senadores de San Juan late in 2025, reaching base at a clip upwards of .300.

Estrada, the 2025 American Association Player of the Year. played with the Sioux Falls Canaries (AA), slugging .352 with 20 home runs, 88 RBI, and 1.017 OPS across 92 games.

Estrada, 28, spent part of 2024 with the FerryHawks of the Atlantic League, batting .253 with three longballs, 14 RBI and six stolen bases in 95 at-bats in over 25 contests. He also suited up for Charros de Jalisco of the Mexican League, hitting .274 with a homer, seven runs driven in, and eight base thefts in 84 at-bats in 49 tilts.

In international action, he suited up for El Salvador in both the Central American Games and the 2017 Bolivarian Games, where he batted .278 and helped secure a bronze medal.
