Trevor Bauer Sparkles for Long Island Ducks in Historic Performance Versus Gastonia Ghost Peppers

Long Island Ducks starting pitcher Trevor Bauer delivered a stellar performance against the Gastonia Ghost Peppers. giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits, and a walk, while striking out 15 batters on 117 pitches, 79 of which were strikes, in eight innings of work.

The Ducks (10-9) wound up picking up the 6-3 victory over the Ghost Peppers (8-11) Tuesday night at Fairfield Properties Ballpark. The 15 punchouts are a Long Island franchise record.

Bauer, a former National League Cy Young Award winner, earned his fourth triumph against zero loses, of the young season.

Additionally, before taking the mound tonight, the 35-year-old held the Atlantic League’s best ERA at 1.13, having permitted just three runs in a league-best 24.0 frames.

Furthermore, Bauer has made a solid case to make his return to MLB, in a career that has spanned 10 major league campaigns with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, and Los Angeles Dodgers, compiling 83 wins in 212 big league starts during that time span.

Cather Gavin Collins paced the Ducks’ offense with four base knocks, four RBI. and two runs scored. 

The Ducks hit the diamond again tomorrow against the same club at 6:35 p.m. at home.

The former first-round selection of the Diamondbacks in the 2011 MLB Draft returns to the hill on Sunday, May 17th against Gastonia at home.
