While the weather has changed from frigid to warm, it is the perfect time for me to go out and search out New Jersey dining spots to feed my soul.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!I came across three wonderful places for sweet and savory tacos, donuts, and other special fare delights in New Jersey’s Morris and Union counties.
Eat up, folks, and enjoy your summer.
Beach Tacos — 905 Mountain Ave, Springfield, N.J. — Ph: 973-741-0038 — Hours: Mon – Sun 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Since it is summer out, what better way is there to help you get into the warm weather spirit than enjoying some tasty tacos and other delicious Mexican food with a fun, coastal twist at Beach Tacos in Union County.
Well, it was a good start for me and my longtime girlfriend Maggie, as we enjoyed some fresh air fun eating.
Since I am a vegetarian, I devoured two soft shell Veggie Tacos — salsa verde, cauliflower, mushrooms, corn, red bell peppers, onion, pico and cilantro on six-inch tortillas.
Ladened with smooth and palate-pleasing feelings, the tacos hit the spot with the right amount of flavor blended with beach vibes close by to me in Union County.
But the nachos were the star of the show. The nachos were piled high with fresh ingredients, such as queso, black beans, Pico de Gallo (a popular Mexican salsa), and sour cream. I had to display some control from not sharing them. It was flavorful and lip-smacking satisfying.
I would definitely go back just for the nachos, not to mention to sample the quesadillas, burritos, and bowls.
There is also a Beach Tacos in Seaside Park, N.J.
Sugar Lips Donuts — 145 Main Street, Madison, N.J. — (973) 879-3780 — Hours: Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday — 8:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. or later; Wednesday — 9:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. or later; Thursday — Friday — 8:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. or later.
Note: Please call to find out how late it is open. as the closing hours seem to have changed.
There is something to be said for quality doughnuts, especially a break from the mundane.
That is the case for Sugarlips Donuts, known for its creative, artisanal donuts with unique, mouthwatering flavor combinations and generous toppings.
I had an outstanding Toasted Coconut–its best donut, in my opinion–and a Mr. Cook E. Crunch Devil’s Food Cake donut topped with vanilla glaze and crushed Oreos, which was a sugary and prenominal offering.
Sugarlips’ donuts are crafted in small batches, to ensure freshness and maximum tastiness. Other great flavors include the Caramel Romance–an old fashioned cake donut topped with caramel fudge glaze and pink Himalayan Sea salt crystals, and The Squealer-an old-fashioned cake donut topped with maple glaze and bacon.
Sugarlips Donuts offers catering options for personal and corporate events including donuts by the dozen(s), donut towers and donut walls.
Note: Sugarlips does not use nuts in any of its donuts or glazes. However, the facility that it gets its ingredients from will not guarantee that they are nut-free, so there could be some cross contamination, according to ots website.
Harlee’s Tap & Grille — 1260 Springfield Avenue. New Providence, N.J. — Hours: Sun – Thurs: 11:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Fri & Sat: 11:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Harlee’s is charming spot in New Providence that offers a great meeting area for good, hardy family-style meals and an adult beverage with family and close buds in a friendly, fun atmosphere.
We dined outside on a sun-kissed day, as I ate a Veggie Tacos (again), while Maggie enjoyed a Grilled Chicken Sandwich — chicken, tomato, lettuce, bacon, and sriracha mayo, along with a refreshing Margarita, with a side order of house-made chips, where were golden brown and crispy.
The food is always solid and fresh, and the wait staff could not be more helpful and friendlier.
Additionally, the beer selection, on tap and in bottles, is always topnotch and vast. Plus, Harlee’s is a cool spot to watch a game or take in some live music on select days.
