Since 2018, August Martin High School football (Queens, N,Y.) team played the role of road warriors because it lacked a field to call its own.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!For the upcoming Public School Athletic League (PSAL) 2026-27 campaign, that will all change, as a state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar athletic complex has been constructed for the Falcons’ athletic program.
Now, August Martin football, who posted a 3-5 record last year, will no longer have to brave fields with little to no fan support.
Most impressively, August Martin High School field is complete with all the bells and whistles, Allen stated.
“We have two half courts basketball courts, a concession stand, a media room, locker rooms, music, a PA announcer, and a bunch of pre-game festivities, Allen said. “There is something for everyone, even if you’re not a football fan.”
With the beautiful gridiron field installed and surrounding wonderful amenities in place, Allen said there have been several queries to partner up with the Falcons. When it happens, that will give August Martin a feeder program to help with future football success, he believes.
More importantly, to help give the South Jamaica, Queens, community and its high school football supporters a reason to follow them is a returning core of talented players ready to swoop in on the competition.
Back behind center is rising senior Nooa Allen, who threw for over 800 yards and achieved All-City status in the process.
Head coach Kyle Allen, who happens to be his dad, said Nooa has grown physically and mentally, putting in the necessary time and effort to improve a great deal.
“His confidence is through the roof,” Allen said of his son. “He is now 5-foot-11, lost the baby fat, is faster and stronger. He’s night and day. I’m super excited to watch him play. He’s light years ahead of last year.”
August Martin’s top running back heading into the season is rising junior Kaziem Burroughs.
“He’s a lot faster and stronger,” Allen said of Burroughs, who is now 205 pounds.
Next up is Tyrese Vassell, a rising senior wide receiver/defensive back, whom, Allen said, “He’s going to be good on both sides of the ball.”
Two other rising senior wide receiver/defensive backs that Allen spoke highly of are Keyan Howell, “who came on late last season,” he recalled. “He was our most consistent tackler.” Plus, incoming freshman Matthew Adewale, a player who is “shifty and not afraid to catch the ball over the middle.”
Allen also sang the praises of Lebron Fisher, a rising senior with a very promising upside. “He’ll be a threat to be one of the best defenders in the league, I’m expecting,” Allen emphasized.
Allen said the Falcons have three linemen capable of being true difference‑makers, the kind who can move bodies at the line of scrimmage, keep Nooa clean and protected, pressure opposing quarterbacks, and shut down running lanes throughout the 2026 season.
Those players are 260-pound center Nathaniel Pass and 300-pound guard Brent Monde, both rising seniors, and Royale Panosky, another big man up front in the trenches.
Also, the 6-foot-2, 320-pound rising sophomore Wilson Jean will provide added depth on the lines while competing for a starting spot, Allen noted. “But he’ll play a lot on the D-line,” he said”
Rising senior offensive tackle Terrance Battle is another solid upfront option for August Martin, per Allen. “He’s strong and athletic,” he said.
In addition to Battle, there is rising senior Aldre Smith, who is another two-way viable choice on the Falcons’ respective lines.
Then, there is rising senior Randy Vincent, a newcomer to the squad, who “has the potential to be really good,” Allen mentioned.
With the aforementioned players and others, Allen is chomping at the bit to start the 2026 season today, with a brand, spanking, new field ready for high octane action.
But he is extremely grateful for the support he and the program have received from administration along the way, something he did have residing in the back of his mind that it may not ever happen.
“It’s like surreal because I’ve been doing without it,” Allen admitted. “It’s going to be weird to have home fans for us.”
While he fought hard to see it to fruition, Allen said the school’s brass saw it to the finish line.
“The administration has been so supportive,” he said. “Everyone has been wearing different hats. They’ve been a breath of fresh air. I told my principal, Allison Tiberio, I’m not sure what I’m going to do with all this cool stuff. She said, ‘You’ll figure it out.'”
August Martin assistant principal Stephanie Smiley shared a few sage, well‑timed words that reminded Allen how much his eight years of steady, hard work — and the staff’s — are truly appreciated.
“My assistant principal said I’ve been a solider, that I never complained about anything,” Allen recalled. “That I’ve been able to keep August Martin on the field. Now, I’m and the program are set to reap the benefits of all the new, good stuff.”
Last but not least, Allen said his athletic director, Garet Lynch, has been a God send, playing a huge role in putting the finishing touches on making sure everything is just right for the team going into 2026.
“I can’t say enough about what Garet has done or us,” he said. “We’re headed in a new, positive direction because of his support.”

August Martin will play a scrimmage in late August, then travel for two preseason tilts before commencing the season on Saturday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. against Lafayette.
