After a banner year at the plate and on the mound, Chatham High School’s (N.J.) rising senior Drew Speace has committed to the admission process at Division III Colby College Baseball program in Waterville, Maine, today he announced via Instagram.

With growing interest from a slew of schools and offers from Salve Regina and Colby, Speace went with the Mules, as they were more aggressive in their pursuit of him, and they wanted an answer as soon as possible, he noted. Also, he said the educational opportunities, athletic amenities, and the beauty of the campus made the decision that much easier for him.
“I loved the campus; the athletic facilities are unreal and just the academics are great” said Speace, who also suited up for Lockedin Expos. “I had an offer from Salve and interest from a bunch of other schools. Colby put me on the deadline, so I had to choose between the two considering my timeline.”
Speace will be in good hands at the school, as Colby College is considered a strong liberal arts institution, ranked No. 24 nationally in U.S. News’ “Best Colleges” for Liberal Arts.
Furthermore, on the field, Drew Speace laced a .405 average with 22 RBI, 30 hits, five doubles, a triple, 15 walks, and .500 slugging percentage in 74 at-bats this past season, while posting a 7-1 record with an impressive 2.07 ERA and a 65/25 strikeout-to-walk breakdown in 40.2 innings of work.
The Cougars posted a 20-7 record, and made it to the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 Semifinal Round, a 4-2 defeat to South Plainfield.
Colby put up a 20-15 mark and went 5-7 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action during the 2025-26 campaign.
