Brooklyn FC partnered with The Salvation Army of Greater New York to help local children and families prepare for the upcoming school year with a special day of soccer, community and giving back.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!On Saturday, August 29, 50 local children and their parents were invited to attend Brooklyn FC’s match against Sporting JAX at Maimonides Park, where they saw the home team win 4-1 on Coney Island. As part of the partnership, each student received a backpack filled with essential school supplies to help them start the new school year feeling prepared and ready to learn.
This support is especially meaningful and important at a time when families are already navigating rising food and living costs, high gas prices, and changes to critical assistance programs. With household budgets increasingly stretched out, expenses such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other school essentials can create an added financial burden that the families might not be able to meet. By providing these supplies, Brooklyn FC and The Salvation Army are helping ease some of that pressure for families while giving children the opportunity to enter the new school year with a sense of excitement and confidence to learn.
The partnership between Brooklyn FC and The Salvation Army is particularly special because both organizations recognize the importance of giving children not only the resources they need, but also positive experiences that make them feel celebrated and supported.
