Lowell Spinners’ timely hitting, coupled with the Brooklyn Cyclones’ poor defensive play, led to the Cyclones dropping a twin-bill (6-2. 4-3) to league-leading Lowell (Boston) Tuesday night at MCU Park.
In the second game, the Spinners’ Kervin Suarez scored on two errors to tie the contest at 3-3, and Alex Erro’s sacrifice fly permitted them to pull ahead at 4-3 in the top of the seventh.
Brooklyn (25-18) failed to cash in with two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, sealing its own demise.
The Cyclones committed a total of four errors in the affair, not helping their cause at all.
Brooklyn scored three runs in the fourth, with Yoel Romero adding an RBI on a fielder’s choice.
Starting right-handed hurler Mitch Ragan pitched decently, allowing an earned run on three hits in three frames of work. Currently, Regan sports a 1-2 record in nine tilts across 22.2 innings on the season.
In the first game, Lowell (28-15) made an early 1-0 deficit in the third disappear, platting five runs against Frank Valentino. Marino Campana’s two-run single capped the rally to make it 5-1.
Jaxx Groshans went deep against Nelson Leon to lead off the seventh, swelling the Spinners’ advantage to 6-2.

With the two defeats, Brooklyn slips into second place in the New York-Penn League’s McNamara Division, a half a game behind the Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore).
