Sarah Bona — Randolph
Senior Sarah Bona showed that she can hang against a topnotch defensive team such as the Chatham Lady Cougars.
The 5-foot-11 senior dropped in 16 points, helping to keep her squad in the game until the very end when host Chatham sank a bunch of free throws down the stretch to seal the 46-41 victory.
Before that, Randolph knotted the contest at 38-38 with 20 seconds left in regulation on a Bona layup.
Julia Corella — Ramapo
Julia Corella, coming off a right knee ACL tear last season, drained a game-high 16 points in No. 9’s Ramapo’s 54-33 win versus eight-ranked New Providence Sunday in the first annual Crusader Classic at Morris Catholic High School.
The junior also had six assists and grabbed four rebounds in the win.
Riley Allen — Chatham
Though she did not play her best, Chatham 6-foot junior guard Riley Allen managed to bang home 18 points and corralled six boards Friday night at home in a 46-41 win.
Madison Schiller — Ramapo
Senior Madison Schiller put up double-double figures with 12 points and 10 rebounds and chipped in six assists to add to her teammate, Corella’s, solid tilt.
Savannah Ring — Ramapo
Not to be denied, senior Savannah Ring contributed 12 points and nine boards in Ramapo’s 21-point triumph.
Brynn McCurry — Sparta
What can you say about the ultra-talented Brynn McCurry? She is flat out elite, and proved it Sunday at Morris Catholic, scoring 31 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in an 80-71 defeat to the Crusaders at the Crusader Classic.
Avery Kessler (Shawnee) and Grace Kowalski (Montville)
Shawnee’s Avery Kessler scored a team-best 14 points, while Montville’s Grace Kowalski dropped in 14. But host Shawnee drippled away with the 41-31 win Sunday.
