Class of 2025 Christ the King High School, located in Queens, point guard Markell Alston has received an offer from Division I Illinois Mens’ basketball program.
Additionally, the 6-foot-2 Brooklyn native, who also plays for the AAU NY Gauchos, holds offers from UAB, George Mason, Manhattan and Creighton, per VerbalCommits.com.
The Fighting Illini open up the season on Friday, October by hosting Quincy in an exhibition game. Illinois posted a 23-10 record and went 15-5 in Big 10 Conference play in the 2021-22 campaign.
