Morgan Matthews of Pennington School, Jersey Gemz 17U Commits to George Washington Hoops

The Pennington School (N.J.) and Jersey Gemz 17U’s Morgan Matthews has verbally committed to Division I George Washington University Women’s basketball program, yesterday she Tweeted.

Additionally, Matthews held offers from St. John’s, Lafayette, Drexel, UMass, Fordham, Columbia, Harvard, Penn and Bucknell, Georgetown, Northeastern, Providence, among other programs.

Matthews, a 6-foot rising senior guard, led the Red Hawks in points with 537 (22.4 p.p.g.), steals with 60 (2.5 s.p.g.), and rebounds with 122 (5.1 r.p.g.) last season.

Matthews owns a great handle, a nice outside shot and can get to the hoop and finish with regularity. Plus, she is a tenacious defensive player.

The Colonials posted a 18-13 record and went 9-7 in Atlantic 10 Conference action in the 2022-23 campaign.
