St. Joseph Women’s Basketball Notches First Skyline Conference Win


The Division III St. Joseph’s University Brooklyn Women’s basketball team used three players, who all scored in double-digits, to edge Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University, 73-76, Sunday afternoon at Arc Arena in Manhattan.

Sophomore guard Kristen Donovan led the Bears (2-5) with 23 points, while senior forward Destiny Hurt and freshman guard Mercedes Perez scored 21 and 16 points, respectively for St. Joseph’s.

Junior guard Shanna Bliss contributed seven points and 10 boards in the victory. Donovan, Hurt and Perez added eight, 10 and seven rebounds, respectively.

Yeshiva graduate student Yuval Nitzan, a guard, paced all scorers with 33 points. Freshman Sara Yolkut added 15 points and a game-best 16 boards for the Maccabees 2-6).
