Winkel, who is a redshirted transfer and attended Bishop Garrigan High School (Algona, Iowa), enjoyed an impressive season, averaging 16.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 35 contests in the 2023-24 campaign.
The Great Danes put up a 13-19 overall record and went 5-11 in American East Conference (ACE) play this past season.
