Top Mets’ Pitching Prospect Christian Scott Whiffs Nine in Triple-A Debut

Right-handed New York Mets pitcher Christian Scott made his presence known in first Triple-A start with the Syracuse Mets last night.

Despite giving up three runs on five hits in four innings of work, the former University of Florida product struck out nine batters against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the Mets’ 5-4 comeback road victory at PNC Field.

Scott, a 5th round pick of New York in the 2021 MLB Draft, enjoyed a fantastic 2023 season, posting a 2.57 ERA and 0.85 WHIP across three levels of the organization.

Scott earned an invite to big-league camp for the first time this offseason and pitched well. With injuries hitting the Mets’ rotation to start the season, the thought of promoting Scott for a start or two had circulated around the team.

However, the inking of veteran pitcher Julio Teheran puts things on hold for Scott for the time being.

Scott, 24, is the highest rated pitcher for New York, and fifth overall rated prospect, according to MLB.com.
