Ethan Skender Joins Gastonia Ghost Peppers for the 2025 Atlantic League Season


The Gastonia Ghost Peppers of the independent Atlantic League have signed former San Diego Padres minor leaguer Ethan Skender for the 2025 season, yesterday Ghost Peppers general manager Brady Salisbury announced on social media.

Skender, a utility player with plenty of speed, spent the 2024 campaign with Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League, swiping 17 bases in 39 contests and posting a .702 OPS.

The 28-year-old played with the Evansville Otters in 2023, batting .263 with a .768 OPS and stole 22 bases in 83 games.

The Padres selected Skender in the 28th round in the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft out of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. The Metamora, Illinois, native played for the San Diego organization until 2022 (three seasons), reaching as high as the Double-A San Antonio Missions.
