Scholten, a Democratic rep and a paralegal, is opposing republican senator Joni Ernst.

Meanwhile, the 45-year-old University of Nebraska alum will continue to climb the bump any time the Explores need his pitching services.

Last season, the 6-foot-6 Scholten posted a 6-2 record with a 5.40 ERA in 60.0 innings of work in 11 game starts.

He returned to professional baseball in 2023, going to 2-1 with the Twins Oosterhout of the Dutch Major League after being away from the sport since 2007, when he pitched for Sioux City, and went 0-2 in his brief stint with the team.
