The Sussex County Miners have signed versatile infielder Evan Berkey for the upcoming 2026 Frontier League season, today the team announced via X.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Last season, the Berkey, Calif., native put up a tremendous .355 batting average with 21 home runs, 80 RBI, and 15 stolen bases with an impressive 1.136 OPS with the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers (now Freebirds) of the Pioneer League.Â
The 26-year-old’s excellent campaign earned him a spot on the Pioneer League Postseason All-Star squad.
Berkey split time between the Ottawa Titans and Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League in 2023 and 2024.
Before turning professional, Berkey sparkled in college. He suited with the University of Evansville Purple Aces as a graduate student in 2022.
Additionally, Evan Berkey played four years at Cal State Bakersfield (2018–2021), picking up several accolades. He earned a selection to the All-Big West Second Team (2021), was named to the Northwoods League All-Star Team (2019), and awarded the Rawlings Big Stick Offensive Shortstop of the Year (2019).
