Lincoln Saltdogs Ink Former Yankee Prospect Pitcher Harold Cortijo

The Lincoln Saltdogs has signed right-handed pitcher Harold Cortijo, an ex-New York Yankee prospect, for the 2026 American Association campaign, the team recently announced on its website.

Cortijo, 29, spent 2025 with Capitales de Quebec in the Frontier League, where he posted 15 saves in 32 appearances while putting up a 3.38 ERA.

Also, Cortijo pitched in five games with Pericos de Puebla of the Mexican League and went 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA for Leones de Ponce in the Puerto Rican Winter League, across the last few months.

The Yankees selected the Puerto Rico native in the 14th-round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft, out of the Riverdale Baptist School, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

The Saltdogs will begin the 2026 season at home on May 15th, against the Sioux Falls Canaries, at 7:05 p.m. at home.

Cortijo totaled six years in New York’s system, going 19-7 with a 3.87 ERA in 237 innings of work in 93 games.
