Division III St. Joseph University of Brooklyn Women’s basketball program has added two transfers for the 2026-27 season: Sophia Lyder, formerly with D2 Lees McCrae, and Rebekka Hjalmarsdottir, a Grindavik, Iceland, native who comes over from D2 Edinboro University, head coach Joe Giacchi recently told NYNJSportsWorld.com.

Hjalmarsdottir, a 5-foot-8 soon-to-be junior guard, who played in nine games last year, did not see any action for the Fighting Scots as a freshman.
The Bears put up a 11-14 overall mark and went 7-11 in Skyline Conference action in the 2025-26 campaign in Giacchi’s first year in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
