She was a constant threat in the final third, creating four opportunities and was involved in all four goals her team scored. Brooklyn’s opening marker came in the 14th minute when Shimkin delivered a cross from the left wing to find an unmarked Catherine Zimmerman in the box for the finish.
The second helper came just 11 minutes later, as Shimkin nutmegged a defender and drew the attention of the goalkeeper down the left side of the box before sliding a ball to Ashlyn Miller, who found the back of the net for her first Brooklyn goal.
For the club’s third tally, Shimkin’s cross from a corner kick was headed back across goal before defender Jackie Richards headed the ball into the net. Her third assist came in the 57th minute, as she slid a ball down the left wing for Richards, who finished for her second goal of the match.
Shimkin has been a creative force for Brooklyn this season, leading the team with 21 chances created, the second-most in the league.
