The New York Mets are bringing former MLB catcher A.J. Ellis on board as their strategy coordinator, today SNY reported via X.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Ellis, who had been a special assistant to San Diego Padres’ general manager since 2019, spent 11 years in MLB with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Miami Dolphins, and Padres.
The 45-year-old played under current Mets manager Andy Green, who managed San Diego during Ellis’ last year in the majors in 2018.
Not exactly clear what his role as strategy coordinator is, Ellis’ behind-the-plate experience may come in handy when it comes to working with New York’s catchers and pitchers, if he is used in that fashion.
