Long Island Ducks Bring Back Veteran Scott Kelly for 2024

Today, the Long Island Ducks announced that they have re-signed New Jersey native and Atlantic League veteran infielder Scott Kelly for his tenth season of professional baseball.

Kelly provides the Ducks with several defensive options while being a team-first guy, something that pleases Ducks manager Lew Ford.

“Scott is the ultimate team player and a versatile option for us, both as an infielder and outfielder,” Ford said on LIDucks.com. “We look forward to having him back in our clubhouse this season.”

After starting 2023 with the Spire City Ghost Hounds, where he amassed a 320 OBP, 18 RBI, 41 runs, 44 hits, eight doubles, five steals and 18 walks in 88 games, Kelly joined the Ducks in August. The 32-year-old posted a .347 on-base percentage while driving in six runs, scoring 15 runs, clubling 19 hits and four doubles, swiping six stolen bases and reaching base with eight walks in 29 contests with Long Island.

Kelly, who played ball at The College of New Jersey, spent two campaigns with the Charleston Dirty Birds, and the first six seasons of his pro career with the Somerset Patriots. While with the Patriots, they made the postseasons five times.
