I, with various company along the way, went on another glorious food adventure, taking me from my home in Chatham, New Jersey, back to Manhattan, and ending in Morristown. New Jersey. All in all, I devoured appetizing Greek, Mexican, and pizza fare while doing my thing.

How can you go wrong when you dine on Greek and Mediterranean food? So, we, my girlfriend Maggie and I, decided to try our luck at The Address, located in the electric downtown section of Morristown, which first opened its doors on October 23rd, 2024.
The decision proved to be the right choice for us, as The Address’ menu features first-rate ingredients meticulously chosen and expertly crafted to bring you the flavors of the Mediterranean with an unmatched flair, not to mention the impeccable service and delightful atmosphere.
We started out with the Greek Lentil Soup (brown lentils / carrots / celery / red onions / garlic / fresh herbs) and Burratta & Eggplant — eggplants / peppers and tomato sauce / burratta cheese / and pistachio pesto. Both appetizers were delicious and very hardy, especially the Burratta and Eggplant, as the creaminess of the cheese set off the multi-dimensional, savory flavors of the eggplant.
For our main courses I enjoyed the Horiatiki Salad — tomato / cucumber / sweet pepper / kalamata olives / sweet onion / capers / feta cheese / lemon- EVOO and red wine vinegar oregano dressing, topped with grilled shrimp, while Maggie dined on the Grilled Beef Souvlaki — tenderloin cube pieces /roasted eggplant cream / seasonal vegetables and lemon potatoes.
Again, both dishes were sure-fire hits, with the salad full of tastiness and tanginess, as the slight saltiness of the feta highlighted the dish. And the Souvlaki was succulent and dripping with scrumptious flavors throughout, Maggie noted.
Do yourself a favor and give The Address a try! You will not be disappointed.
El Ranchero Mexican Grill — 250 Main Street, Chatham, N.J. — Hours of Operation: Monday – Sunday: 11 a.m. — 9 p.m.
A local joint in the heart of downtown Chatham, New Jersey, El Ranchero has greatly improved since we first frequented the Mexican restaurant during its soft opening three years ago.
During our last visit, the kitschy decor and the delicious food truly enhanced the experience, which made the outing thoroughly enjoyable, especially with such great company on hand.
I enjoyed the Veggie Fajitas dish, with nice helpings of broccoli, avocadoes, carrots and zucchini–all served with fresh tomatoes, peppers, and onions on a sizzling plate, and accompanied with refried beans and rice on the side.
Yes, it was flat-out scrumptious and gratifying. I was so full that I could not eat another bite.
Maggie had a delicious, mammoth-sized Burrito the size of someone’s forearm. Size aside, she said it was tasty and too big to finish in one sitting.
Other noteworthy dishes that our company enjoyed, which I could not take my eyes off of, were the Parrilla Ranchero — chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo, guacamole and pico de gallo, and the Carne Asada — grilled, marinated beef steak with rice, beans, and salad.
We are glad that we gave El Ranchero another shot, after all.
Pop’s Pizza — 260 West 42nd Street, Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan — Hours of Operation: Monday11:00 a.m. – Sunday 11:45 p.m.
Pop’s Pizza is a hole-in-the-wall hidden Manhattan gem. I decided to stop there after a long day of work, and it was another good choice by me, if I say so myself.
I ordered Pop’s Margrita Slice — a simple yet delicious offering crafted with tangy tomato sauce (not gravy, please), fresh basil leaves, and stringy mootz.
I loved everything about this slice, from the savory sauce to the crispy crust, and everything in between, as it hit the spot without me having to overindulge.
As for other options, I plan of going back to try the Garlic White Pizza — three cheese white pie with ricotta, aged mozzarella, and Parmesan Reggiano, topped with fresh garlic and basil on house-made dough (no red sauce).
Plus, the Upside-down Sicilian — a thick crusted pizza with a crispy crust and a soft center, topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil.
See you next time, Pop’s.
