Highly Rated SS Colin Houck Walks-Off St. Lucie Mets on Opening Night


New York Mets prospects are paying dividends early on in the season.

Case in point, shortstop Colin Houck, the Mets’ first round selection in 2023 MLB Draft and seventh-rated player on MLB.com, launched a sacrifice fly ball that scored Yohairo Cuevas for the in the St. Lucie Mets’ 5-4 walk-off win in 10 innings over the Daytona Tortugas on Opening Night at Clover Friday.

Outfielder Nick Morabito, the Mets’ 26th ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline, wrapped a home run to draw St. Lucie even at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth with one out before Houck’s late-inning heroics.

Righty Jawilme Ramirez tossed three scoreless innings to pick up the victory for the Mets.

New York first baseman J.D. Martinez, who is preparing for the MLB season with St. Luice, went 0-4 with a walk.
